A Bit About This Young Man

I should probably tell you a bit about me. The question is where do I start? I am born and raised in Massachusetts. I am the product of parents that had me at the age of 20 years old. Yes, they have been together and happily married ever since. 30 years strong. I know that because I turn 30 years old next week. Neither of them went to college. They both worked extremely hard in order to support me and my younger brother. He and I are four years apart.
Growing up I played football. I was okay, nothing special. But I always worked extremely hard. The one thing I knew I could control was how hard I worked and what I put into my craft. I always wanted to get into other activities and other sports. My Dad always encouraged and pushed football on me because that is what he played and what he knew. I don't fault him for that. I still have some lingering injuries to this day but the life lessons I learned from playing football will always be with me.
I went to a local college in the Western part of Massachusetts. Some say nothing exists past Worcester. I can assure you that more exists past Worcester. A lot of great stuff at that. Massachusetts most hidden gem. I went into college undecided. I ended up graduating with a degree in Business Management and concentrations in Accounting and Finance. When I graduated, I found out I had a minor in Economics. That was pretty neat.
I went on to work for a local public accounting firm. I am still at that firm as we speak. Eight years strong. I am a certified public accountant and a certified fraud examiner. For a young man that was the product of two parents that never went to college, that's pretty remarkable. I defied the odds. But others look at me as privileged to this day. Funny how that works.
I have a beautiful wife and we have a one year old yellow Labrador Retriever together. Well, we didn't make it together. We bought it together.
