A Man’s World #13: What Strength And Toughness Actually Looks Like

Being tough and being strong doesn't mean lifting the most weights, throwing the heaviest punches, or tossing the largest tractor tires. That can be strength and toughness to some people. I see it as so much more than that for a young man. I do believe in being healthy, exercising, and lifting weights, so I don't want to get that piece confused.

For a young man I see strength and toughness as so much more. Strength and toughness is being able to get up in the morning and be productive for the day. It's about leading with your heart and standing up for yourself and those around you. It's about being open and vulnerable with others even if they shut it down. I always say I rather be the one in the one in the room that tried and got shut down than the one that did nothing. It's about being able to tell that person next to you that you love them. It's about being able to share with someone how you feel and why something is important to you.

I know you have heard it and I have too. You are soft, you are sensitive, you are weak, you are this, you are that. None of that is true. When people say that to you it is because they are insecure about their own being and are so consumed by what they have heard in the past and have regurgitated over the years.

You and I, we are carving a new way ahead.

Be well, stay young.
