If you haven't watched it please watch the Clubhouse on Netflix starring the Boston Red Sox. If I wasn't a Boston Red Sox fan I would still tell you to watch it. The show surrounds the Red Sox going through a previous season. The highs, the lows, the ups, and the downs. Throughout the show it focuses on Jarren Duran (aka Big Swole on Instagram or Insta Face as Bill Belichick would say).
Jarren Duran epitomizes what it means to be a young man where people think you have everything in the world. Of course, by being in the MLB, he does have a boatload of money compared to the average Joe. With that said, a lot more comes with having that money. He has a lot more pressures and a lot more expectations than the average Joe.
I was inspired by the show because of Jarren Duran. A lot of the show focuses on his mental health battle and the things he faces as a young man in the MLB. I mean it's true you look at him and say "C'mon how can this guy have issues? He is an absolute stud of a man. He has biceps that could strangle my left calf. He could probably be in any relationship he wants. He's rich. What is so hard about his life?"
It is extremely important to see where people are coming from and how they got there. You will see that Jarren had a tough upbringing by his father. His father put a lot of pressure on him as a young boy and had super high expectations for him. That stuck with Jarren his whole life. That is not easy to overcome. I can relate. Not from the MLB aspect. From the general aspect of pressures and expectations as a young boy. Please don't fault his father. He was a man like many of our fathers who only knew what they knew based on the information that they were given from their parents (if any).
Moral of the story here is mental health is important to focus on. I believe it's even more important to focus on our young men. Jarren inspired me and I hope he inspires you. Tell me how you feel.
Be Well, Stay Young.
