Take Me Out To The Ballgame

There is something about baseball that is special. I will be honest with you, I didn't get into baseball until I married my wife. She is the biggest Red Sox fan I know aside from Ben in Fever Pitch. I did play baseball when I was a young boy. I was in 8th grade and played for the "Texas Rangers". It was my first year playing baseball and I got put on the 7th grade team. One time, I hit an inside the park grand slam. As a parent, we must have been a funny group to watch. My inside the park grand slam was on a ground ball to the short stop that went through many legs, hit the fence, and was thrown to many places that were not a baseball glove.
When I watch baseball on TV I see more than a game. It just makes you feel good. And when you are at the ballpark, forget about it. When you walk into Fenway Park it is a full blown experience. The people, the food, the smells, the park, the game, the whole shabang. I know there are the crazy people at the stadium too but they are just part of the game and you can either ignore them or join them. I choose to ignore them.
Being at a baseball game just feels American. It makes you feel like you are a part of something bigger than yourself. That's what I feel we have to all get back to. The simple things of being with one another and feeling that American feeling of a baseball game.
